What is a Bodhran?

A Bodhrán is a traditional Irish drum made of a round wooden frame with a goatskin head stretched across one side. It is played with a stick called a "tipper" or a "cipín" and is a popular instrument in Irish traditional music. The Bodhrán is known for its distinctive deep, resonant sound and is often used for rhythm accompaniment in a variety of musical genres.

Kevin Kelly is the Founder of BodhranWorld.com and has been playing and teaching the Bodhran since 2001. He has been performing to audiences for over two decades. Kevin grew up in the heart of the Sperrin Mountains, Co. Derry (Ireland) where local traditional music greatly influenced his style of playing.

" Everyone has a great sense of rhythm. I look forward to getting you playing"
